Rural Schools Association of New York 2027 Photo Contest

Contest Description:

Whether it's a snow-covered school entrance, a spring science lesson, a fall football game, a winter concert, or a summer community event on campus, show how your school comes alive in every season and reflects the spirit of rural New York.

We invite photos that highlight the full life of your school—from its exterior and classrooms to hallways, libraries, arts, athletics, and the community traditions that make each season unique.

What We're Looking For:
We want to see rural New York schools in all of their seasons. Photos should capture the school as a place of learning, connection, tradition, and community.

Submissions may feature:

  • School buildings, facades, and grounds
  • Classrooms and learning environments
  • Hallways, libraries, cafeterias, and other school spaces
  • Students, faculty, and staff
  • Athletics, arts, music, and extracurricular activities
  • School traditions and seasonal celebrations
  • Agriculture, outdoor learning, and rural landscapes connected to the school
  • Partnerships between the school and its surrounding community
  • Everyday moments that capture the spirit and character of rural New York

The goal is to tell the story of a rural New York school throughout the year—from the places where learning happens to the people, traditions, and communities that make each school unique.

Eligibility & Submission Guidelines:
The Rural Schools Association of New York State Photo Contest is open to all RSA member schools across rural New York State. The contest celebrates the unique character of rural schools and the communities they serve throughout all four seasons.

Entries must be submitted on behalf of the school by a designated school representative, such as a principal, teacher, communications staff member, yearbook advisor, or other school-appointed representative.

Photographs may be taken by students, faculty, staff, or an authorized school photographer, but entries must be submitted by the school.

Submission Limits:
Each school may submit up to two photographs per season, for a maximum of eight photographs total across the four seasonal categories.
