The Rural Schools Association of New York has a longstanding and beneficial relationship with the National Rural Education Association (NREA) and its Consortium (NREAC), which is comprised of state and national organizations concerned about educational opportunities for children who live in rural areas of the United States.
In an increasingly confusing system, we work to help rural educators navigate through the noise by finding and helping them use the resources needed to educate today’s students.
Originally founded as the Department of Rural Education in 1907, it is the oldest established national organization of its kind in the United States. Through the years, it has evolved as a strong and respected organization of rural school administrators, teachers, board members, and others interested in maintaining the vitality of rural school systems across the country.
RSA is proud to collaborate with the NREA in the pursuit of educational excellence and opportunities for rural schools within New York State. As seen in their own Legislative Agenda for 2023, it’s easy to see how NREA’s mission, vision, and values align with ours.
